It is a small fish usually 1.6 to 3.4 inches long, has bright colors, and is strong. It is an easy choice for beginners because the breeding of the guppy is very easy. Like other livebearers, the guppy also breeds live fry rather than lay eggs. The gestational age of a female guppy is typically 21 to 30 days. They are ready for pregnancy and postpartum. Guppy originated in southern and central America but today guppy is found all over the world. There is an outsized breed of guppies that are colorful and indoor.
